self-publishing

& mentoring

Program

This isn’t for people who are simply looking for book writing inspiration. There are many YouTube videos for that. This self-publishing and mentoring program isn’t just a bunch of videos wherein you watch your mentor talk and bahala ka na sa buhay mo.

This program gives you direct access to Kath C. Eustaquio-Derla and her team of editors, designers, mentees, success partners, industry contacts, and even her own mentors. Yes, there are Learning Series videos that explain the basics, but you work with a team for the execution. You get to talk with actual people, not just a bunch of videos.

While we promise to hold your hand as you navigate this self-publishing journey, it also required hard work, perseverance, and trust from both sides. So before we get to the program inclusions, let’s hear it from PaperKat Books Boldies (mentees), including the pioneers.

“Publishing a book has been a dream of mine since (around) five years ago. I feel that I’ve wasted too much time already, so I hope I can finally make it happen soon. However, I’d need help to do it. I know I could’ve already applied to the program much earlier (like after attending the workshop), but I was so worried about the financial side of things that I wasn’t able to do anything. So, yes, this is me running desperately after this opportunity before it becomes more impossible for me, haha. Based on what I learned from your talk and workshop, I believe in your mentoring program. I love how it was structured from the top to bottom. I don’t think others can provide the same kind of mentoring style (and because I only stumbled upon yours by accident, I don’t think I’d be able to find another one anytime soon).”

“I met Kath in late 2017. By 2018, we started working on my book, a dream that was launched last 2019. As a mentor, Kath is a very approachable but direct. She tells it like it is! She guides you, but also gives you the freedom to realize your vision. As a person she is very witty, which explains why her books are the way they are. Congratulations on your book, Appendix B, Kath! Keep on inspiring people to tell their stories!”

“Kath’s mentoring program is not a writing boot camp designed to make you a photocopy of her as a writer. It is designed to make you find yourself and to become a unique and different writer. She will push you to work hard. Accepting her ideas as a mentor will lead you to see the endless possibilities that your self-published work can achieve.

She will not say your work is incorrect. But if she sees that something is wrong, she will look for ways to help you make it better and help you understand the error. She also shares trade secrets and life lessons that I can use as a new self-published writer.

Kath may be tough sometimes but she will always make you feel that you matter—that’s why she’ll squeeze you until she gets the best out of you. I am grateful for everything I learned from her and no matter how far I can get [because I have the best mentor], I will always look back to this part of my life, where Kath’s mentorship program pushed me to become the boldest ‘bold star’ that I can be.”

“Stop procrastinating and wasting time. Publish your book with Kath. She will serve as the light that will give clarity and practical guidance. Turn those stories into a tangible book real fast.”

“One of the best traits of my editor/mentor, who happens to be my niece, is her enthusiasm the first time you present to her the synopsis of your book. For her, your idea is excellent and is sure to be a bestseller! This is more than enough for an aspiring author to start her project because you feel you already have a cheerleader on board.

As the editing process progresses, it will be a pleasant surprise to realize that your mentor does not attempt to change the way you write and think. She improves and enhances the way you write but she never modifies it. Your book remains yours. The ownership will never be taken away from you by her edits.

She is highly professional, very knowledgeable, honest with her feedback, and objective. And being related to her does not affect her editing.

I am really grateful I presented to her the concept for my book over lunch—with her husband, Peanut (her son), and of course, her Mom, who is my first cousin, witnessing this hopeful author making the pitch! Thank you to my family for paving the way to my book writing.”

“I’ve always wanted to write my memoir. I wanted my Filipino community here and in the Philippines to know my story, that I didn’t fit into a mold. I hope to have my book published by 2021, no later than 2022. I remember the 3-Part Template that we used in The Crazy First Year, which was very useful to me.

Kath made this possible with her style of questions to bring out the best/meat of the story(ies). I could actually see the story start to form and I encourage those to stay within the confines of this questioning. If you want to write more, do so and it will help you in taking out or adding to the story. Again, it was very useful for me to see the direction my story was going. I was excited and accomplished in receiving the printed copy of the book. I felt great being a part of a it, sharing with others, and understanding others. It was such a beautiful and collaborative experience and I would do it again, especially for Kath.”

“First time to join a book writing mentorship program and I think that Kath’s style is straightforward and is exactly what I need. She shows expertise in handling different writers’ challenges. I love the fact that the mentorship program also allows us to network with so many great people from different industries. I get [a lot] of value, learning, and connection each time. I cannot wait for the next mentorship because the February 2020 session has taught me a lot!”

“I’ve never seen myself as a book author. But when our group, Dabarkads 20%, decided to write a book, I instantly said yes because I knew this book will tell a lot about our happy moments and memories as good friends. I felt happy and proud when I saw the published book and immediately read everyone’s testimonials. I am proud to be one of the authors of Dabarkads 20% – Unang Libro and have our first book launch last September 22, 2019, at Book & Borders Cafe Eastwood City. Thanks to our mentor Kath Eustaquio-Derla. I highly recommend PaperKat Books.”

“Hello fellow reader/writer looking to get self- published! I have used Kath’s system of plotting my first romance book. She gave us a questionnaire that inspired a series of second questions and a chain reaction of thoughts that made me write the first draft of my book. It’s really easy, helpful, and accurate to the T, I swear.

I haven’t yet held the physical copy of my book because I’m still doing structural edits with my editor but hopefully, I’ll be published soon! Hope you’re going to take the next step in making your dream a reality. And you read it right, it doesn’t require passion, but a lot of consistent hard work!”

“You inspire me to keep on writing and do what I can when I can. I seriously admire your mindset and strategies in business as well as how you keep it balanced with being a mom and a wife. Thank you for being an inspiration and motivator beyond being a writing mentor. I appreciate you and all that you do for us your mentees and what I see you do for yourself and family.”

“That feeling when you realize that you can be part of a book? Well, it’s totally awesome and cool! But seriously, thanks to Kath for pushing me that I can do it and I don’t need to be an expert or have a degree course in writing. My story is enough for me to be one to write it and I’m so happy that I joined Kath on this project (The Crazy First Year). I have a memory of my family that was written in the book and that means a lot to me. Thank you again Kath for believing and taking out the writer in me. More books to come.”

Precise and Passionate—This is the fusion of Ms. Kath’s guidance in helping clueless book writers launch their dreams into a reality.

I just finished reading Appendix B, her first non-fiction book. It’s a 10/10 for everyone who needs a head start in gathering value-packed information they need from writing to marketing their own books. Ms. Kath is a Halley’s comet in the local self-publishing industry.
