reviews

“What I really like about this book (Before I Do) is that I never got bored with it. This is just the most amazing book that I’ve ever read, by far and what I really like about this book is the author’s writing technique. Walang keme, siyang-siya. She’s not trying to be perfect, she’s just expressing herself using her talent, she’s just real. She’s reaching out to her reader as a friend."

“Just finished reading Kath’s iconic Before I Do novel. I bought this last year (December 2016) at the Before I Do Anthology book launch we had at Books & Borders Cafe (forgot to let her sign it because she’s too busy). Well, like what the description said, Kit Castille is a mean girl. And by mean—SHE’S REALLY MEAN. I would post spoilers if I have to review the whole book. All I can say is that I enjoy reading it. For me, it’s a light read. It’s short but meaningful and relatable. You will surely look for the next installments. It kinda has this cliffhanger-ish effect at the ending—something I am always looking for in a book. I hope I could find the time to read the other two books that comes with this trilogy.”

“What I love about this book (Before I Do): The author used characters in the book who exist in real life. Tag-lish works for me now. I feel more into the the story. The places / location mentioned are existing here in the country and feeds the imagination even more of every scene. The story itself. It’s a mixture of different emotions, all at the same time.”

“Before I Do may be a short novel, but it is full of characters and events that we can relate to. I, for one, can relate to the main character Kit, who has a strong personality and isn’t afraid to voice out her thoughts. I can also relate to Kit’s gay best friend, who acts as her voice of reason. It is not a love story with a fairy-tale ending. In fact, it is very much like how relationships are in real life: complicated, with both parties changing over time, and ultimately, with both parties facing the “big conflict” that could make or break the relationship.”

“I got a copy and read the book around late last year. I initially thought that it would be guide on how women prepare for a wedding. Was I even surprised more. Kit is definitely one bad girl, and bad may even be an understatement. I met Kath last year and had this book signed. Even as a male reader, I am amazed with the book especially how the characters were portrayed.”

“This may be a thin book but it’s full of emotions and good and bad decisions. It was amazing and full of feels. Loved it! So, this was a short book about the qualms and thoughts of someone nearing a wedding and the hesitations and challenges that comes with it. Ironically, I read it at Valentine’s Day but I loved it so much. It was realistic and eye opening. It mirrored what I’m quite sure every woman has and will experience once in their lives. It makes us think things through and not just rely on our feelings. Full review here. ”

“Next up is Before I Do by Katherine C. Eustaquio-Derla. This one was also quite enjoyable and refreshing. It was frank and honest and perfect for every woman out there who’s in a relationship that’s either stable or stale. It’s perfect for those who are in dire need of some thinking and decision making. What’s good is that the protagonist is not api-apihan. She’s fierce and she’s awesome—as each and every woman should be.”

Goodreads
“Witty. That’s the word that best describes the whole story. You did well.”
