Excerpt from I Do Times Two
By Bubbles Cinco-Gose
“If two hearts are meant to be, no matter how long it takes, how far they go, how tough it seems, fate will bring them together, to share a life forever.” – Anonymous
I got married twice—to the same man. If I could do it again, I would, always and without even batting an eyelash. This is my own kind of fairy tale and I will live my life cherishing every moment of it. For me, this is what true love is all about—falling in love with the same person over and over again.
Save The First For Last
The first time I got married, it was a civil ceremony attended only by a chosen few. It was a secret marriage to be exact. It just happened so fast that one day we woke up and decided to get married. Just like that. No romantic proposals whatsoever.
Of course, the decision was not met with much enthusiasm by some of our family members, even if we were of the right age and sound mind. But we were both as determined as we could ever be. We pushed through with the civil wedding even if it was just in front of a judge in a crowded room. We took our vows and it was perfect in our eyes. Don’t get me wrong here. It’s not like we rushed to take our relationship to a whole new level. Ryan and I have known each other almost our whole lives. We were each other’s first love. He was the “one that almost got away.” Because we were young then, things did not work out.
We had an on-and-off kind of relationship for as long as I can remember. At one point, we finally separated and had our share of other relationships. Years passed and with a little twist of fate (that’s for another story to tell), we found ourselves back in each other's arms. For keeps, this time.
We had been going steady for three years when we took that leap of faith and decided to say “I do.” It was the best thing that ever happened to us. For me, it’s not how long you've been together that matters the most, but how you value your relationship and how deep your feelings and trust for each other really are.
